Yep, I'm a bit (quite a bit actually) under the weather (but remembering that it's not a reason to be unhappy!)

So I'd appreciate any medicinal food recipes you'd like to share.

Here are two of my favorite:

Lemon Honey Ginger tea.

Boil 1 quarter inch slice of fresh ginger for about 5 minutes (to preferred strength.)
Add a teaspoon of lemon
Flavor with honey until just pleasantly sweet.

An excellent flavored tea that is soothing, helps clear sinuses and reduces throat irritation and dryness.

Clove Tea

5-6 Cloves per cup of water.

Boil cloves from 5 minutes up to 15 minutes, depending on desired strength. More cloves can be added for a very strong medicine that will numb your entire mouth, but I find a mild tea works just as well for most mouth and throat irritation. Just relax and sip it slowly.

Optional: sweeten with honey. Adding milk makes it even more soothing but reduces potency, which may be desirable if you only want a mild tea. Boiling with cinnamon bark and 1 quarter inch piece of split vanilla bean may also add to the teas soothing effects.

As always, unlike using chemical cough drops or sprays, taking teas such as these help nourish the whole body and mind. In addition to other positive effects, the foods above both help eliminate unwanted digestive organisms, returning balance to your digestive "ecosystem" and thus strengthening your immune response. But you guys know all that.

I'll certainly test out any other recipes you'd be kind enough to offer.... I think I'll need them (ha-choo!)

First of all, I offer my hugs, secondly, I swear by gargling 7 drops of tea tree oil in hot water. If you don't mind the taste, drink one or two drops of tea tree oil in hot water. Drink lots of water of course, and be gentle on yourself, hope you are feeling better soon. I'd bring ya by some homemade chicken soup if I could.
